I have the VIP addition Trust me not worth it You can t ever find someone to speak with EVER They send a generic dialogue then you NEVER hear from them again There are real no bonuses for the VIP I bought everything in the store doesn t take long and now I have nothing to spend the money on The leadership board should be based on how many lessons you do not as a competition For example if you gain 1000 xps on a week you should advance Very disappointed     Monk Me
I m really enjoying using this app for Japanese Having some knowledge already does make me go through the XP a bit faster than the app is counting on but that will be better as I progress Ads are not annoying small typos in your answers are accepted so no major problems Only small issue is that I really don t see the use of the winnable itens but hey if that s the only problem that s great                     Petra Smartphone
Easy to use You don t need a lot of time to complete each lesson doing a little bit each day is the way to do it Repetitive in a good way It s definitely a worthwhile tip to write down your learning after each lesson I like how you answer in different ways speaking into the app helps you with pronunciation typing what you hear helps your listening skills and typing translations helps your reading and writing                     erica t
Even though the ability to learn a language for free is greatly appreciated the app itself has been extremely buggy lately It lags it crashes constantly and sometimes the voices will not play when you are trying to listen to the speakers It is extremely frustrating to the point that I use the app less frequently now and have become bothered enough to leave this review Please fix the glitches duolingo         The Meaning is Always Vague
This app is excellent to learn the basics of a language Immersion is the best way to learn This is just a tool to just begin to learn the basics I docked a star because some of the translations in the application are direct literally translations that are not commonly used I am doing learning Spanish from English One example is he needs a lot of water Which is correct grammatically but is never used in the real world                 Matthew Danker
I ve been using their app and features for a long time but I won t be renewing my pro subscription when this runs out They have constantly added things that make no sense or asked for feedback before doing so The app is a nightmare compared to the desktop version and their microphone system for some reason cannot pick up words very well When trying to talk to them about these issues they just shrug them off without really caring Best place to leave feedback is by not supporting them     William Everman
I love how it is free It s way easier than any other app There is one thing I would change though the lives system I dont get it I m not sure if it was made for us to be more tempted to buy the paid thing with unlimited lives it doesn t work All it does is limits my education I would make the regin more quicker so you dont have to wait 4 hours There is not many ads either I love this app Its great I would reccomend this to learn languages Just please fix the life system                 Trent H
I love Duolingo but so far their support has not met expectations I ve emailed their support line multiple times in the last near and receive no reply I have encountered an issue multiple times in the last year where it looks like I have purchased a streak freeze but the next day when I don t meet my goal for the day my streak shows as zero and there s nothing I can do Duolingo I love your app but please support your loyal users         Gregory Ramsey
This is a great tool when picking up a language for the first time or just to refresh your memory sometimes there are a bit too many ads using the free version but I can appreciate it s to fund a great resource The ability to pick more than one language is also really beneficial and I think the method of little and often really applies here though you can do much more studying if you want to                     Caitlin Learmont
I m loving the ease of use and mixed approach to language training I e reading writing speaking and translating I wish the process began with some basic rules such as the use of the masculine feminine and pronouns it s more encouraging to have basic understanding at the beginning as opposed to guessing That aside I m having fun with this app                 A Humiston
Excellent for practical studies in foreign languages While there may be a few errors in some of the lessons it is carefully taught to implant each phrase or word in your everyday life While I would highly recommend this it is more of a practicum than learning the basics of a language I would suggest on improvements to this website that the amount of time that each person has should be asked before any emails are sent and that more goods should be put in the store to buy with lingots                 Jamie Jones
I find it very helpful to learn languages though I do wish that had the option to listen to words you write in the language you are trying to learn for example they have asked me to write down drinking water pije wode I would love to have been able to hear that That being said it is only minor very minor in fact that it is barely even noticeable The amount of languages available is a decent number no idea why Klingon or that GoT language is there but hey Great app worth the download                 Devin Mckenzie
This is easily the best language learning app out there Keeps you entertained while having fun and actually learning unlike other language learning apps Probably my favorite feature is the streaks It keeps you coming back day after day because once you hit a certain streak you don t want to leave so it subconsciously forces you to learn It s very effective The only thing I dislike is the rather expensive subscription It s quite the pretty penny but not having it is hardly a hassle                 Dalton Stuart
Not what it used to be The focus used to be on learning a new set of vocabulary each day and then reviewing it when your memory was about to fade Now the focus seems to be on making you buy the premium version At the end of each lesson it says you ll now get harder learning content but as far as I can tell each lesson and level seems to use the same few phrases such that autocorrect can pretty much do the exercises for me and to be honest I m just doing it for the streak and it s boring             Sean Kirwan
I think the app is good for learning but the health system ruins it The most important way to learn is by learning is from your mistakes but instead this makes me stop playing when normally I would have kept going Most of the time I ll just cheat so I don t lose a heart Doing practice to refill hearts takes too long for something you will lose right away and seems to be there just to get you to watch more ads My friend doesn t have the health system and it s so much better         Boba TwoThousandSeven
I like the app a lot because it will teach you many languages for free as long as you invest some time into it The app is very clean looking with very good ad integration it will not be fixed in one place like you see on the bottom of many apps but rather it will give you one ad every time you do one lesson Translation accuracy is good but i would rate it 9 10 because some of those are going to be a little sketchy sometimes as well as the sometimes weird phrases Cats have 7 lives in france                     Roda
Fantastic language learning app it s definitely the best free app you ll find on the Play store I m having plenty of fun competing for XP with my friends and revising new languages becomes enjoyable with 10 minutes a day spent on Duolingo As fun as it is though it seems that some people have options to spend their crystals gems on that I do not and vice versa Moreover sometimes when I am offered an extra chest with mixed currencies I am unable to choose a chest they all freeze                 Ariel Cahn
Reasons to love Duolingo 1 It really is free You pay only if you want to do it offline or no ads Or unlimited gems which is not really that necessary because you can refill them by practices Rosetta stone costs hundreds of dollars 2 It s engaging It feels like playing a game but you re learning Rosetta stone has pretty much the same format which can get tiring 3 You can learn multiple languages at once In short Duolingo is really nice Nothing to lose                     Tokha Hoang
In the beginning when I was first learning the basics of the Spanish language I thought that Duolingo was great unfortunately the deeper you go the more you realize that Duolingo only provides surface knowledge it compromises a series of tests and the practice is based on what you know already as you continue to progress forward There is no explanation of grammar past present future tense Once you get far enough you reach a standstill in your learning Just personal opinion             Ami Etienne
I feel that when you weigh the aim against what you re presented with here this is an excellent app I have read some comments that complain about how it doesn t teach verb conjugation sentence structure from a grammatical point of view and other things Classroom learning to pass a test is not the same as in the field learning to be able to speak I believe most Dulingo users want the latter and this app delivers                 Gro Up
I used to like Duolingo Then suddenly a few days ago I receive an update that removed all my lingots and added a new currency and hearts It s a horrible system and I hate it They claim it is to help you learn better by not rushing through exercises but that is a nonsensical lie since they remove the feature for pro users Unless if you pay you don t need to learn better that is I m very disappointed     Vittorio Mattioli
Absolutely love this app Through repetition and increased challenging exercises that test the written auditory and pronunciation skills learned from the material presented it provides a fun and engaging way to learn a language It even makes it competitive by scoring points for a chance to land a spot in the ranking amongst others learning too Awesome app                     Toni Pryor
I love this app I am using the free version and I actually like that if you run out of health then you have to practice more to be able to do the lessons again I think my only slight criticism would be that the sentences you have to say over and over again for example he eats an apple aren t normally things that you would need to learn to be able to say everyday But apart from that I love it                 Florence Triplett
Mostly good A few things could be improved The running out of health thing is annoying An option to mark your home language as English rather than US so we don t have to talk about cookies and candy and the like Less repetition of useless phrases your insects are on my plate why do we die the elephants are not mine Remove the line you ll now get harder content from the text displayed on finishing a level IMO the content doesn t get harder just more lessons per level             john bazeley
Great for beginners and wanting to get to know a language I use this alongside being tutored and it helps me get my homework practice in whilst on the go Could do with a bit more variety within each segment as you do end up repeating yourself and my tutor often has to explain some of the rules that duolingo doesn t really go through but other than I would really recommend it for first time language learners                 Yasmin-Lee Collins
I m learning slowly but this app at times makes me want to smash my phone into a million pieces I regret buying the year subscription When you press the button to hear what you re supposed to type they talk so fast it it doesn t sound a damn thing like what you have to put resulting in numerous wrong answers I definitely don t recommend paying for the subscription             Jeff Jones
If you re consistent this is a fantastic resource I use it whilst taking lessons reading books listening to podcasts and watching Spanish shows I m not sure how good it is for learning the language purely on this alone but it seems pretty comprehensive However I d say it s best to use it as another extra curricular tool In that role it is a 10 10 app                     harry stancombe
Duolingo is amazing both as an app and a website I have gotten so much better at the four languages I am learning and am really surprised with the progress I have made Definitely good for first timers to languages and people already learning languages Only sore spot is the hearts on the app It means if you stuff up too many times you can t try again In my opinion not a good idea                 Abigail Porter
When I used the app a while ago I loved it Was excited to start using it again There used to not be ads Not there are an insane of ads I have never been interrupted with so many ads in my life Every minute and ad pops up that takes 3 clicks to get rid of Then you get bombarded with annoying owls waving good job in the middle of playing It s so unnecessary u0026 so are the extra gamesn rewards u0026 treasures It s so invasive u0026 distracting from what you are trying to do Focus u0026 learn a language             Lisa Benjamin
The app is quite nice fun and handy to use quite good for beginning Extra kudos for being able to restore life with extra practice instead of mandatory in app purchases Do note that the grammar courses and notes are somewhat hidden in the tips for each module The notes below have been written with the Japanese course in mind and may or may not apply to other courses higher levels in each module do not actually provide much extra content or harder questions They actually just loop over the same 3 4 series of questions Once you have reached level 2 or 3 in a module and memorized the contents there isn t much incentive to redo the same questions dozens of times over for level 4 or 5 Japanese specific learning to write the characters is a key part of the language that DuoLingo does not include fair enough so you ll probably want to couple it with a dedicated kana kanji learning app that features writing recognition in the Japanese puzzle phrases words are sometimes split halfway through and or mixed up with bits of other words which is both unusual and confusing                 Matthieu Dazy
I used Duolingo several years ago and it was brill I ve just got back into it again and am finding many exercises where i have to quit and start another one due to not being able to fill in an answer or see an answer Perhaps the settings are wrong It is a fab way to learn languages and to keep the learning strong as it is a few minutes each day to learn phrases and vocab             Pauline Roby
It s pretty great While being 100 free it teaches me what I need to know and really drills it into my mind I have heard from native speakers that the phrases while being grammatically correct are not used in the context that Duo says they are which is frustrating ALSO do NOT use the Latin section I took 5 years of classical Latin and this Latin is 100 wrong in the grammar and sentences Other than that it s great                 Hannah Grace
I feel as though it was an incredibly idiotic decision to have you wait FIVE hours to fill ONE of your health bars I mean this is an app to learn a language not just some silly game The previous version of this app was much better now I do understand that this app is meant to make learning a new language a lot more fun but that aspect of it ruins it And so the developers of this app should take these reviews into consideration But if it weren t for that the app would be great again             Sup Bro?
I love this app it delivers what it promises probably the best free way to learn a language out there My only suggestion I would REALLY appreciate if spelling mistakes where also corrected in listening excercises I often find myself unsure of the correct way to spell a particular word that isn t coming up in my practice only for it to do so specifically on a spelling excercise therefore keeping me still in the dark Thanks for reading                     Agustina Wolman Bocage
The app is cool and I actually very much enjoy re learning German way easier and more interesting than back at school However it s learning with a bot that cuts you for the stupidest typos or just because it only knows a few possible translations and you can t read its mind All in all you can learn some basics of the language but you ll need some courses with after to actually learn something             Oxana Tomova
Duolingo is a great app and very useful to support language learning However for one I think all produced sentences and words including the correct ones produced by the learner e g out of the suggested building blocks and the sentences chosen as translation should be given as audio to the learner Secondly I would really like to be able to direct my practice a little more Specifically I would like to be able to choose more typing and sentence production exercises                 Didi Kj
